How this GPA calculator works

Each letter grade is turned into grade points on the common 4.0 scale: A is 4.0, B is 3.0, C is 2.0, D is 1.0 and F is 0.0, with plus and minus grades in between (A− is 3.7, B+ is 3.3 and so on). Each class’s grade points are multiplied by its credits, added up, and divided by the total credits.

The weighted GPA adds 0.5 for honors classes and 1.0 for AP or IB classes to passing grades. Schools handle this differently, so check your school’s policy. An A+ counts as 4.0 here.
